I was hired to become their lead developer/designer. My first task was to redesign the site, which I coded and designed the site from concept to finished. The website was but with SEO and web standards in mind too. All code is valid and the XHTML validates as XHTML STRICT. I also used PHP to develop the template that each affilate uses to develop their own site.
I did however have a strict color and layout guideline that I had to follow as well. This guidline was put in place by the Komen foundation and all affiliates had to follow these guidelines.
Laugh for the Cure® is an Affiliate Event of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. In 2007, the event was tasked with relaunching the existing website, in order to meet new Komen National branding standards. Melissa, was diligent and hard-working in her efforts to familiarize herself with the new website branding standards. Throughout the process, she submitted creative ideas and provided suggestions for how best to build the new site, while remaining in compliance with the national branding standards. Melissa is an excellent communicator and promptly responds to all requests. She manages expectations well and is a tremendous asset to the LFTC team. As a not-for-profit event, LFTC would not achieve its annual fundraising goals without Melissa's generous contribution to the project and her unselfish willingness to help make a difference in the lives of women with breast cancer. Thank you Melissa!"
